No. [ he at least manages to sound apologetic about it, though it's obvious he's ... definitely mad at himself for it? dick is smart but his player isn't ] I know we must've missed an obvious clue, but... I don't know what. The only thing I know for sure is that it had to be someone from Shadows' team, because of those items. But that doesn't exactly narrow things down.
["dick is smart but his player isn't" I'm crying, if that ain't a mood. But Yasusada sits down next to him, drawing his knees up. He probably still has his Souji doll? Awful]
[ he looks at the doll for a second before shaking his head. ]
The rewards for completing tasks people get on Sunday. The winners get stuff that... seems to be helpful if one where to play the competition properly.
[ aka murder stuff ]
Shadows is the only team that's won so far, from what I know.
[ he shrugs a little, staring at the fire himself ]
They were discussing it during trial, though they wouldn't name it outright. Probably scared of outing people. [ ... he turns to look at yams with a small frown ] It's safer not to tell people your team generally, but for the sake of having someone who can vouch for you-- you should tell one person you trust. It doesn't have to be everything, but it's... part accountability, part safety in case you're wrongfully accused.
[ because he heard that, in trial, and he'd rather yams not be next on their hitlist. ]
[Yasusada nods. He tries his best to keep up, he really does, but it's difficult--he wasn't forged to solve murders, and so many of these... situations... involve items he's never seen or skills he can't understand. IT'S A HARD LIFE, BEING A POMPOM.]
You're right. [To his credit, he hasn't kept totally silent, but--it's fair.] I'll try to be careful.
Good. [ the smile on his face is small but there before he turns back to the fire ] Two scapegoats is already two too many. I can't... figure out what it is we keep missing.
Do you think someone did something on purpose? This time, or last time?
[That's the part Yasusada really hasn't been able to figure out. He's been unable to tell if they're being purposely misguided, or if they're just overlooking things that should be obvious.]
... There's the possibility the bullet is still inside someone. If it didn't hit anything too important, it's possible to live with one without too many consequences. If that's the case, it could theoretically still be found. But if it was part of the evidence we missed? I doubt we'll see it again.
...Do you think the people in the infirmary could've had anything to do with it?
[Eye pain + missing eyeball... Yasusada thought about that during the trial, but they dismissed status effects so quickly this week that he'd decided not to say anything about it.]
Edited (sometimes you just forget to finish sentences) 2020-06-29 00:11 (UTC)
It's a possibility? [ he doesn't sound entirely certain as he thinks it over ] It was... me, Stephanie, Shinobu, Zenitsu, Phoenix, Percy, Jason and Natalie. Of those-- well, you only have my word for me not doing it, obviously, but you and I both know we can eliminate Steph from that list. I believe Jason and Natalie didn't have anything to do with it, either, for personal reasons.
[ he shakes his head ]
I don't know the others that well. It didn't seem like anyone was lying about it, but-- all the curfew effects this week wouldn't have been too difficult to fake. I don't know the exact correlation between the effects and the murders yet. We didn't have those on the ship.
Zenitsu-kun and Kocho-kun both had emotional curses. It's difficult to judge anything, when they're like that. [Though Shinobu had fairly extensive injuries, but a lot of them did, this week.] I don't know the others very well, either.
[He's never spoken to Zenitsu or Jason, and the others, only once or twice. He has no real way to judge their character--although, even if he did, anyone can be driven to kill.]
...Do you think someone has the ability to know which team a person is on?
[ what is an html, we just don't know. dick nods along to that, because it's hard to gauge one way or another with powers in effect whether someone was reacting differently due to murder or... something else. especially worse when you don't know them. at that question, though... ]
Because they keep targeting Purple? [ he assumes. ] I've thought about it. It's a possibility, but we'll only know for sure if someone else from Purple dies next week. Right now, Hikage and Yu had one other thing in common-- they didn't have that many friends. They could've been targeted for that, too.
[ which is. something to say about the dead but Look ]
Maybe we should keep an eye on others like that, then. [Although, his wartime history kicks in, and--]
People like you and Lili-kun should be careful, too. It would be risky to attack you, but anyone who organizes people well can be a threat, if someone doesn't want to get caught.
You're not the first to say that. I'm more worried about Lili than myself, when it comes to something like that. Not that I don't believe that she'd put up a fight, but-- I'm trained and she isn't. And she'd be a harsher hit on morale, if they care about something like that.
That's true... she has Ookurikara, so he might scare some people away, but if someone is daring enough to try that, then they might not care.
[And Lili obviously doesn't present herself as a dainty young lady, if that might put off their potential murderer?? Though someone targeting a prominent figure probably wouldn't care about that either.]
Funny you say that, considering Ookurikara's put himself as one of the potential victims if the pattern really is people who aren't that... well-liked. [ he waves a hand vaguely. what the fuck is being popular ]
[Despite himself, Yasusada smiles a little. YEAH, KARA REALLY DOESN'T DO HIMSELF ANY FAVORS. Nobody can deny that.]
He's around Lili-kun a lot, though. Not all the time, but--it would upset her, and that would upset a lot of other people, too. [A domino effect. She's his emotional protection, and he's her physical shield. None of that will stop someone truly determined, but still.
He does sigh, though.]
But for Ookurikara... I worry that he'd be easy to frame. He doesn't often have other people to stand up for him, besides Lili-kun. [Even Yasusada's seen the wisdom of having someone vouch for him that isn't, like, a sword. Or Sanji.]

Dick-san?

Hey, Yasusada. Everything alright?

[He wasn't even close to Guy, but it doesn't feel good, to vote for someone incorrectly.]
...I was wondering if you had any suspicions, about today.
[Any idea of what to do with the evidence they found, because Dick is smart, and Yasusada is... good at causing murder, not solving it.]

The items? You mean, from building the furniture?

Then, you know someone on that team? I... haven't really spoken to anyone about it.

There's something we missed, some kind of detail we bypassed. Like the missing bullet.
