Yamato's currently on Day 5 of moping at home and neglecting all responsibilities besides kendo. In a spur of the moment decision, he'd called to take some time off work, but he's already regretting the loss of a distraction. And between the cause (more or less) of his fight with Kashuu and the memories and experiences he's been plagued with, filling his days with kendo hasn't worked at all.
Ryusei is not actually the last person on the planet he wants to be talking to, but he groans when he sees who the message is from anyway. Ugh. Ugh.-]
do you seriously think I'm stupid enough to try and fight a bear
( The answer is so fast, you'd think he'd had his phone glued to him waiting for this exact question so he could give this exact answer (he didn't but the timing is pretty great) )
Nah nothing like that Just a bear... it roars a bit and gets big but it's not really looking for a fight.
( But what an answer. It's not much but it has him thinking. Was that really Yamato in his dream? )
You know you're just walking with your friend outside and this bear comes out. You can go back but you don't want to so you have to fight or find another way.
( Vaguely answers the question from the last text. )
Normally Yamato would say so, try and think up something passive-aggressive about Ryusei being a stubborn blockhead (says Yamato, l o l), but he just doesn't have the energy right now. He hasn't had too many horribly big fights with Kashuu, but they always leave him feeling depressed and drained, and he isn't in the mood to pick a fight with somebody else.]
bears just being bears still attack people, pocahontas
but if I had to go forward right at it instead of finding another way around and it was roaring at me and rearing or something then yeah, I'd probably attack first
if I didn't then it would and if that happened I'd be dead
well it's either gotta be a gun or a blade of some kind, right?? and you know I don't like guns
[ERGO, it's probably a knife or something, and yes, Ryusei, in this hypothetical scenario he is faster than a bear FUCKING FIGHT HIM.
Yamato's busy lying around and moping, so he really couldn't care less how long Ryusei takes to reply (he doesn't even care that much about the reason, truthfully, because right now it's hard to care about much of anything). When he finally gets the other reply, though, he makes a face.]
[Yeah, don't try and fight him unless you want him to cry on you and wax poetic about ~the good old days~, Ryusei...]
there's no way I would be out with YOU
[THIS IS AN IMPORTANT DISTINCTION!!!!!!
...but as much as this conversation is irritating him, this is the first time anybody besides Kashuu has mentioned having him appear in his dreams, so he can't help being curious.]
all the time Normally it's movie stars and singers though. You're probably the lamest person I've dreamt about in awhile, though.
( Just ordinary dreams that don't really make any sense... this one felt different from his other dreams, though. Everything was really vivid and clear and he woke up still feeling it-- the air, the relief, the bear's breath, the setting sun.... He's never had a dream stick with him after waking up like that.
Yamato can probably see Ryusei typing up another response. It takes awhile and really, he debates asking and getting involved but if Kiyomitsu was going through weird things then what if Yamato was too? )
[Yamato doesn't even bother dignifying the insult with a response, he just waits for Ryusei to finish typing. When the last message comes, he isn't particularly surprised--it makes him frown, but he replies honestly nonetheless.]
yes
[For a bit, it seems like that's all he's going to write. But then:]
(That awkward moment when you're concerned for someone you don't really talk to anymore. Now he has to fumble through the acts of caring without sounding too concerned or invested (because he isn't!!!). He can't ignore it though... whether they get along now or not, they had a history together that went back.)
nah I guess... not really. We were more worried than scared.

armed i think
dont think your crazy enough to try unarmed
no subject
...but yeah okay idon'tknowwhatIexpected.jpg]
I'm not dumb enough to pick a fight with something twice my size
[This is blatantly untrue but okay Yasusada "it's fine I'll fight the mob" Yamato.]
but I think I could probably wound it enough to get away... I wouldn't want to kill it unless I had to
why?
no subject
( Fighting to wound and escape versus trying fighting to kill. )
So you dont have to kill it but you have to hurt it?
just wondeirng
no subject
but if there was a better way then I'd go with that first
the bear was probably there first after all, right? unless you're talking about a bear rampaging through apprassage
[He doubts it, though. Ryusei probably would've specified in that case, or so he assumes.]

[THIS STILL DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.]
and how can you tell it's not looking for a fight if it's roaring and getting big?? that sounds pretty aggressive to me

( HE DOESNT MAKE THE RULES IN HIS DREAMS THEY JUST HAPPEN? )
And I can just tell alright! Its just being a bear!

Yamato can probably see that he's typing. He's typing for a long time but a response never comes.
YEAH WELL YOU DON'T DIE
LIKE I'D LET YOU DIE?
WHAT DO YOU EVEN KNOW?
BEARS KILL FEWER PEOPLE THAN VENDING MACHINES

And a gun would be better than a sword in that situation so I guess you'd die if it was eral.

whatever, it's not my fault your subconscious is stupid
if I did have to fight a bear it'd probably be because you did something to piss it off anyway

probably saved your ass

because that would only ever happen in your dreams
[WHAT A PUNK even when he's moping, incredible]

YOU KNOW WHAT
