He should've known, really--even without his swords, Hijikata's got That kind of presence, and he'd been the only one to recognize the Shinsengumi haori...

Either way, at some point Yasusada will seek him out, whether he's in his room or somewhere else fairly private.]

[ He glances down to the sword at his side, frowning. ]

I don't know.

[ Getting one back was better than none, he supposes, but having either of them missing grates at him. ]

[Yasusada just hums at that, nodding slowly.]

Well, I can't sense either of them, so they're probably back at the Citadel. It's okay, they're together there. [It's also the year 2205 and Hijikata's been dead for ages, but he isn't quite that socially inept.

That said--] Like you and Okita-kun are together here.

[ Hijikata's...not entirely sure what to make of Yasusada, honestly. His manner seems genuine, he's not tripping Hijikata's (well-honed) bullshit detector, but it's still kind of hard to swallow that he's talking to a sword.

...okay, it's probably not that much weirder than his life now being full of oni and rasetsu, but he's a practical kind of guy, and all this mythology suddenly biting him in the ass takes some getting used to. ]

Only alarming in what it says about their hosts and their power, because he'll gladly accept not feeling the subconscious urge to tear into anyone's jugular, but... ]

Izuminokami? He's a lot like you. [IS IT A COMPLIMENT, is it not... who knows, because Yasusada is basically Souji Lite and manages that exact same tone as his master. WHAT A PUNK.

Thankfully, he's not as much of a punk as Okita or Kashuu, and he adds--] Horikawa takes very good care of him. Nagasone-san does too. Ah, that's Kondou-san's Kotetsu.
