Mikoto had so many questions he had to ask. As in, he had no idea they were roommates to begin with?]

[In about 10 minutes, Mikoto finally makes it to Yamato and apparently Kashuu's room. He has a box filled with flowers and wires, along with a book for learning the language of flowers.

The moment he steps into the room, he could tell that Kashuu was definitely his roommate. All of these flowers look so familiar....]

Hey, it's me, Mikoto! Geez, I didn't know that you and Kiyomitsu were roommates.

[Just as he'd said, the door to the apartment is unlocked, and Yamato's waiting in the living room. He waves as Mikoto makes his way inside, standing up and putting down the book he'd been idly looking at, but not really reading.]

What, really? [Yes Mikoto, all that agreeing you did about what a shitty roommate Kashuu has, that was about Yamato... THANKS.] Who else did you think would put up with him all day long?

[YOU ARE WELCOME??? Okay just kidding. Now he feels guilty about all the trash talking that he did with Kashuu about his 'terrible roommate.

He was just going to... hope that Yamato never found out about that.]

Huh... [He trails off, as if everything was trying to process in his dumb head.] To tell you the truth, I'm not even sure. [Someone that hated cats apparently??] What's it like living with him?

Oh and, where would you like me to set this box down?

[LOOK... look... he doesn't hate cats, he's just Very Suspicious and thinks they're all bad omens? THERE'S A DIFFERENCE.

The trash talking goes both ways, though--Yamato wrinkles his nose as he points to a spot in the living room, making his way into the kitchen to get Mikoto some tea.]

With Kiyomitsu? It's terrible! He never washes the dishes, he doesn't cook, he only washes his own laundry, he'll leave just enough milk in the carton so that I have to be the one to finish it and buy the new one... [THE LIST GOES ON FOREVER.] And I'm almost late every morning because he has to change his outfit a hundred times and ask how it looks, even if he just changed his stupid socks or something.

[These are all equal parts exaggeration and truth... so basically exactly like what Kashuu said to Mikoto. THEY'RE HOPELESS.]

[WOW RUDE He's so offended that he would think they are bad omens!!! What did cats ever to do you, man??? His queen Noa takes offense to that.

As Mikoto sets the box down, he immediately freezes up when he hears Yamato trash talking Kashuu. Because wow. He didn't expect that he would be on the receiving end of hearing both sides of this 'my roommate is horrible' story. In it's own way, it was almost amusing.]

W-Wow, that does sound pretty rough...... [He doesn't want to say too much, because he already felt bad for the bad things he's said about Yamato.] Uhh... maybe you shouldn't wait for him in the mornings? That way you won't be late. Unless you have to or something.

[BOTH OF THEM TRULY ARE HOPELESS. If Mikorin wasn't so stunned, he'd probably be laughing at how silly these two were.]

[Funny you should ask...

But Mikoto brought this upon himself, honestly. (No he didn't.) The longer he's around them, the more he'll realize just how stupid they are, because for all their dumb complaints and genuine issues, the idea of separating doesn't really occur to either of them.

Hence Yamato's mildly surprised expression, as if this is an entirely new concept. After a moment, though, he just shakes his head.]

No, if I did that then he'd just be here forever and end up missing all his classes. I'm only here to make sure he doesn't do that.

[Because otherwise he'd be happily living the kendo life.]

[I lost it at. There is a folk legend about Okita Souji encountering a black cat just before he died. Don't ever run into Noa, Yamato...

After telling Kashuu that he thought maybe they complimented each other in a strange way, he was starting to become sure of that after speaking with Yamato.

It's like, they were two peas in a pod, or a match puzzle piece. But for everyone's sake, he'll refrain from saying that.]

You sound like a good roommate, since you look out for him like that. [He's totally be trying to make up for the trash talking that he did with Kashuu.] It sounds like you worry about his well being.

Ahem.

He wouldn't be the first, anyway. They heard it a lot at the kendo school, too, not that Kashuu would mention that. Yamato would, but luckily Mikoto's comment is innocuous that he doesn't bring it up. They'd be here for hours if Yamato got started on whining about Kashuu and kendo.]

Well, somebody has to! [As if Kashuu wouldn't survive without him...] But it's always been like that, so I guess I'm used to it now.

[WELL EXCUSE ~~you~~ YAMATO! NOA IS THE BEST CAT IN EXISTENCE!!

~~That manga chapter was amazing~~ He doesn't show it, but Mikoto's letting out a mental sigh of relief. The last thing he wanted to do was say something that sparked a tsundere moment from the two roommates denying that they are a good match.

Well... [He nervously laughs.] It sounds like he should appreciate what you do for him. [LIKE A LOT, sorry Kashuu.]

Oh! Where are my manners? Thanks a lot for the tea! [Talking about Kashuu had completely distracted him and he takes a sip. Speaking of him, there was something that was on his mind ever since he learned that the pair were roommates.] By the way, were you planning on learning how to make flower crowns for him? Since... well [He vaguely glances around the apartment that was looking like a flower garden at this point.]

Right? Honestly, even my mom spoils him. It's ridiculous. [It's true--without Yamato, Kashuu would be floundering without a dishwasher, or without rubber gloves every time he had to take out the trash... lord help him if Yamato ever goes on vacation without him.

But if Yamato really minded, he wouldn't actually do any of this stuff. Just like if Kashuu really minded, he wouldn't spend so much time fixing up Yamato's hair, and whatnot. Yamato wouldn't actually leave the house without pants, but it's true that his wardrobe would be much less coordinated, and that he probably wouldn't brush his hair very much... HELP THEM.

Yamato smiles and waves a hand at the thanks, though, as if to say "it's nothing, it's nothing". He'd say it out loud, but the question catches him off-guard, and suddenly he looks very interested in his own tea.]

Well we're going to run out of vases eventually, you know, and he puts flowers in his hair sometimes already, so...

[Incredible, even Yamato's capable of being shy... (yams did you forget you literally met Mikorin because you bought kashuu some dang flowers)]

Your mom spoils him? How long have you two known each other, anyway? [Just how close are these two? The more information that he learns, he's even more convinced that these two were practically made for each other. Bless both Yamato and Kashuu. Mikoto's starting to feel like they both need each other at this rate.]

Ah yeah! He does like to wear my flower jewellery and he really knows how to rock it out too.

[HOLD UP!! Was Yamato being shy about this?? This was beyond incredible and at this point, Mikoto is becoming even more amused by this situation.

They really did sound like they were tsundere for each other. He's trying so hard to keep a straight face. It also made him a bit happy to see him acting shy about this, because he perfectly understands.]

[He reaches over and starts digging through the box.] We'll be sure to make him something really nice, then! I know he likes red.

Oh, for ages. I met him when we were kids, we didn't live that far apart.

[Ah, the classic childhood friend scenario... Mikoto is totally right, they're both hopeless and it's a wonder anybody puts up with either of them.

He's grateful that Mikoto doesn't seem inclined to tease, though. MIKOTO IS GOOD PEOPLE. He takes a sip of his tea so that it doesn't look like he'd just been keeping his gaze averted (even though that's exactly what he was doing), and then peers into the box, curious.]

You make all kinds of things with your flowers, don't you? Which one is the hardest?

Ah, so you two are childhood friends? That's nice! I'm still close contact with my childhood friends as well.

[Maybe it was because Rin, Makoto, Chiyo and Minako were all like family to him and whenever he hears about childhood friends, he's automatically filled with fluffy happy thoughts. But this was ... really cute? Two childhood friends who obviously knew each other really well.

It was a classic scenario, but it warmed his heart.

He totally notices that gaze being averted, Yamato! He's just not going to say anything because that's the kind of stunts he pulls.]

Yeah! Bouquets are nice, but I want to do different things with flowers and show that they can be used for many things. [He smiles to himself and holds up a piece of floral wire.] Flower crowns for sure. You have to weave them in there just right! But... with me teaching you how to make them. You'll be a master at this in no time.

Mmhmm! I beat him up and took him home. [Yamato why are you like this. He's not joking either... that's literally what happened.

ANYWAY, FLOWERS.]

It's really impressive that you can do so much without hurting them... I'm worried I'll squish them too much to look pretty. [He says that, but when he puts his mind to something, he practices it until he gets it just right. Even if the first few attempts are ugly, he'll probably at least manage "not too bad" by the end of this. Hopefully.]

You... what?

[MIKOTO HAS SO MANY QUESTIONS RIGHT NOW. What the heck Yamato????]

That was my problem at first too, but once you get used to it, they are fairly easy to make. You just have to get the feel for it.

[As he's digging through his box for flowers and greenery, he hands Yamato a long piece of floral wire.] Here it is! [He pulls out some flower stems, leaves and all sorts of unflowered greenery.]

The first thing you do when making your flower crow is wrap some greenery around the floral wire. This will be your base before we start adding flowers onto it. [But then he remembers something else.]

Oh! Before that though, make sure you measure the floral wire around your head just to make sure it will fit.

Well, I couldn't join my dojo right away, since my parents wanted to make sure I was really interested in kendo... so I practiced with the other kids in the neighborhood instead. [Mainly he went around hitting them with sticks, good job bitty!Yams.] Kiyomitsu lost, but he was a lot of fun to fight with and he looked pretty hungry, so I brought him back to the bistro--well, I guess it was more of a cafe back then. Anyway, my mom liked him a lot and we ended up going to school together and stuff.

["And stuff" being the part of Kashuu's history that he knows he's not really supposed to talk about. Until Kashuu is willing to open up to him, Yamato will abide by his unspoken wishes, and keep that part of Kashuu's life quiet.

That's apparently the only sort of respect for privacy that he has, though, because--]

Oh! Hold on, I've got something for that.

[AND OFF HE GOES merrily barging into Kashuu's room... when he comes back, he's got a fake flower crown in his hands, and he holds it out to Mikoto.]

Can I measure it with this? It should be the right size. [He doesn't mind trying to measure his own head, but Kashuu's hair isn't even half as poofy as his own, so it'd probably end up falling in his face.]
