[Even though he's absolutely petty enough to make an "eww" face, he doesn't have the energy for it now. So he just sighs, but doesn't dispute that--if he didn't think Baren had any good in him at all, he'd have been against their friendship a long time ago. For better or for worse, he knows Baren cares about Kashuu, and that's enough for him.

...Even if Baren is a genuine asshole like 85% of the time.

It's the reassurance that truly mollifies him, though. He doesn't say it, but it's clear in the way he relaxes against Kashuu, brushing his thumb gently over Kashuu's collarbone. He isn't smiling, since he doesn't want to think about any circumstances in which he'd need to be wielding Kashuu's vessel instead of Kashuu, but he appreciates it all the same.]

You'd do that anyway. [He doesn't sound petulant as he says it, a true miracle... but he means it as one of his blatantly honest compliments. Kashuu's loyal and a good friend--he'd do the same for anybody he truly cared about. If Baren needs that much fealty to confirm it, then he's an idiot, but... at least Yasusada can't begrudge him that.]

I know. I told him that, too.

["It's just what friends do". But Baren is Baren, and he won't begrudge a friend a little extra reassurance if that's what they need. He really seemed to need it at the time, and it had reminded him of an earlier moment when he'd been asked to swear not to lie. Some people are just like that, he supposes. With all of his flaws, he's certainly in no position to judge.

But he hums a little after saying so, dropping his hand a little so he can trace over the shell of Yasusada's ear and down the side of his cheek.]

...Well, it'll be good if I don't have to worry about that any time soon. I don't even wanna get out of bed any time soon. You're staying here, too.

[DEMANDING.]

Then he's even more of an idiot than I thought.

[But it's spoken without heat; it's more about his desire to defend Kashuu at all times than it is any real condemnation of Baren himself.

He can't be too upset when they're like this, though. He mumbles something that sounds vaguely like "feels nice", giving in to the urge to let his eyes drift shut.

He doesn't open them even as he snorts, though, tapping his thumb on Kashuu's collarbone in a lazy sort of reprimand.]

How come you can say that and it's fine but when I say it you have to make fun of me, huh?

[WELL HE'S NOT going to refute it honestly because he thought that in particular was pretty stupid, too. Just because he gets where Baren's coming from doesn't mean he doesn't sometimes think it's entirely idiotic...

But he'll let that thread of discussion rest, since he'd much rather focus on Yasusada right now, anyway. The weight of him so close is a constant - and needed - reminder that the nightmare of the last three weeks is finally, finally over. They made it through, even separated. And that's a lot.]

'Cause you'd live in your bed if you could, duh.

[Only rolling out for kendo practice - that'd probably be an ideal life for Yasusada. He huffs, half amused, and presses his lips to the top of Yasusada's head.]

You can sleep as long as you want this time, though. I'll make something good for breakfast when we get up, even if it's like, nine at night. Pro-mise.

[A little celebration is fine, too.]

So if I live in your bed instead, it's fine... I see...

[IS HE TEASING NOW or is he seriously considering it this way?? THE WORLD WILL NEVER KNOW.

Either way, he's apparently content with his newfound captivity, since he doesn't move.]

Hm, you didn't forget how to cook while I was gone? I'm impressed. [Okay, now he's teasing.]

[Look... Yes. Kashuu doesn't have to make sense or be fair!! When is he ever either of those things, anyway!

He also flicks Yasusada's forehead at that, albeit lightly.]

Jerk. You're gonna end up making your own special breakfast at this rate.

[Untrue... Even if he looks huffy, he's glad to be able to settle back into normalcy with Yasusada.]

[He is a jerk, and he's laughing... or he would be, if he had the strength for it. He doesn't try to hide his smile, though.]

You'd better be prepared to carry me around while I do, then. [HIS FOOT HATES HIM KASHUU have you forgotten already, gosh!! Rude.

He quiets down for a minute, then, and while he still doesn't open his eyes or move in any way, it's clear from his demeanor that he's settling down for real.

When he speaks again, it's soft, a quiet admission protected by this fragile peace.]

...I love you too. [He knows it's unnecessary to say it out loud, knows that Kashuu already knows it perfectly well, but still.] More than anything.

[No, he's definitely going to spoil Yasusada with breakfast in bed, since he knows (or is at least pretty sure) that he'll wake up first.

This softness is really welcome, though. What a butthead, daring to be so adorable... There's a little laugh, feather-light, and he smooths down Yasusada's hair one final time.]

Go to sleep already, would you?
