Unlike Tsurumaru, who is definitely not fine, wow. Hm. What a bad trial.
But as promised, he comes to find Tsurumaru later, wherever he is. He's fetched his dagger--and this isn't what he's used to, but neither was a mallet. At least he's sparred the tantou before.
He doesn't say anything. He figures he doesn't need to. He just stands at the ready, waiting for Tsurumaru.]
tsurumaru... does not seem much better than he was when the announcement went up, honestly. he's still tense, and the expression on his face isn't quite as neutral as he'd like for it to be. ]
[ if he doesn't hold back he may end up killing him, he thinks, with how on edge he is after the results. or... 'kill' considering they can't actually die again here. where the fuck is ogata to be the punching bag once more.
but he nods once again, before darting forward. it's not a move to immediately go into an attack, but mainly just to get them moving. there's an ache from his wounds from the weekly effect, but thankfully the pain isn't nearly as bad as they should be, so it doesn't slow him down. ]
[In a way, Yasusada's lucky. He only has one wound--and while it was fatal, and likely to be made worse after this, it doesn't really hurt. He was lucky enough to be killed by the person in the castle he cared for the most, knowing that he was helping to complete a mission as he did so. He couldn't have asked for more, and it's a precious reminder.
So while it's a stab directly through his heart, all that means is that he keeps his movements tighter than he normally wound. The rest of him is perfectly fine, so he focuses on staying light on his feet, for now, pacing Tsurumaru and maintaining the right distance. He's normally such an offensive fighter, but with this weapon, and after that trial, he's quite certain it will be better for him to dodge and defend, at least for a little while.]
he takes note that yasusada is keeping his distance for now. it wouldn't be too difficult to close it, especially since tsurumaru's reach is currently longer.
and so, he tries, because yasusada told him not to hold back. it's just a swipe towards his left arm-- nothing that would potentially be dead, but still annoying to deal with in a battle. ]
[Instinctively, he moves to block it, but the blade isn't long enough for that. His jump backwards is enough to keep it to a graze, and he grimaces slightly, but the wound heals before he can even glance at it, so he doesn't let it slow him down.
He doesn't rest on his feet for long, then--he moves in for a swipe of his own, light and questioning. What are you feeling? he's saying, in the only way that matters.]
[ this is, admittedly, not the same as sparring against a tantou. it's probably because yasusada isn't used to fighting with a shorter blade, which actually makes it more difficult to attempt to predict his movements. you never know what someone who has to compensate for a disadvantage might do.
but he moves to block it with his own sword, a little aggressively, but not with as much force as he could have. he mostly tries to push him back so that he can attempt another swipe. ]
[If this were a real spar, it's true, he'd be trying out much more unpredictable movements. And, to his credit, he isn't making it easy--he doesn't attempt to telegraph his moves, doesn't try for anything that's clearly counter-intuitive or awkward. It's uncomfortable, letting Tsurumaru come in so close, and more than once he overextends his reach to deflect, but the longer they go, the more he adjusts.
Still, he mostly remains on the defensive. This is more for Tsurumaru than himself, after all.]
[THIS WOULD PROBABLY WORK EXCEPT THAT Yasusada spars with Kanesada all the time and we all know Kane-san is a dirty cheater, so he pivots on his heel to try and kick Tsurumaru's leg and throw him off-balance.]
but tsuru goes down! sort of. because he is going down, but now that he's at a lower level, he's going to aim a swipe of his sword at yasusada's legs. ]

Are you sure about this?
[ he's looking at the dagger. ]

I'll heal.
[And even if Tsurumaru breaks this weapon, he's pretty sure they're soulless.]

... weird, how he hasn't actually done that except for practicing on his own while here. ]
Then alright.

Don't hold back.
