[Even if Evan dies tomorrow LOOK I HAVE NONE TRUST
anyway
Yasusada hasn't gone out of his way to avoid Evan or anything, but they didn't spend much time together in the castle. Much like many other things, Yasusada mostly knows him in reference to who he was to Souji--but Souji's not here, and other swords are, so. Y'know.
But it's Thursday, and Yasusada, despite his optimism, isn't foolish enough not to at least check in. So when he sees Evan, he trots over, adjusting his scarf.]
Mm, it does. Maybe it's foolish, but I want to trust them.
[Then again, Yasusada doesn't really have anything against Tiger and Dragon either. He would've preferred that they be honest about their cause from the start, but those who killed knew what they were doing. It wasn't anything like all the demons and possession he keeps hearing about.]
You can't fight, can you? [NO OFFENSE BUDDY but like, gestures.] Is there someone who can protect you tonight?
[Ah... he's a little surprised to hear that, but he smiles.] ...Thank you, Evan-kun.
[He doesn't think Okita would want them to be hostile, anyway. What good would that do them?]
Still, it would be good if you had someone nearby. [Or if he learned to fight on his own?? But that's a proposition to be saved for if they get stuck here longer than anticipated.] Can anyone in your cabin fight?
[WELL fairly early on Yasusada nyoomed off to try and be helpful, but the disappointment he's radiating probably makes it clear that he found nothing useful. Before he heads back to his own cabin, though, he'll seek out Evan, looking serious.]
[The quick shift from past to present tense comes when he remembers how impermanent death is usually treated in these games, but it doesn't lessen the concern in his expression.]
Ookurikara and Lili-kun are closer to him than I am. --Ah, she's not a sword. [IN CASE THAT WAS IN ANY WAY CONFUSING.] But he's still from my home, so... it's different.
[There's always going to be bond, isn't there? Evan's seen firsthand that Yasusada doesn't always know how to interact with humans.]
w0 thursday

Evan-kun? How are you doing?
i'm still shrieking over this image
Good. [...] I think, um, everyone is a little bit stressed out today especially...
[Given the expectations most of them have for this evening.]
Still - it really does seem like the people in charge here don't want us to hurt each other, right? That's, um, what they keep on saying, so...
I love the internet

[He didn’t seem to take offense to that, because A. he definitely doesn’t know how to fight and B. he knows the general vibe he gives off.]
Well, um, hopefully it won’t come to that... That’s what they keep saying.

Evan-kun? Are you alright?
no subject
...I, I guess so.
[Which is to say:]
I just - I really, um, I really didn't think that anything like this would... happen.

I wanted to believe them. [Like they talked about before.] But I can't say it's surprising, either.
[A pause, and then he adds, quietly--]
Tsurumaru-san is from my home.

[It's kind of hard to say, honestly.]

[He takes a breath.]
I'm, I'm sorry.
no subject
[It's a noncommittal sound of acknowledgment, because--well. What else can he say? It is hard, they both know it already.]
You didn't notice anything, did you? Or find anything?
no subject
No. I wish I had.

I tried to search for something in the fog, but it just brought me back here.

[That's how these things go, isn't it?]
Evan-kun, do you have someone safe to stay tonight?
[He knows that isn't how it worked in the castle, but. He's not taking any chances right now.]
no subject
I was, um, I was going to stay in my cabin. [...] You don't think anything else is going to happen tonight, do you?
no subject
[He certainly will be, though they probably both know it won't do them a lot of good.
He hesitates, then, glancing up at Evan.]
...Evan-kun, will you tell me? If you learn anything?
no subject
Mhm. Of course I will. [...] You too, okay?
