[Whenever Cardia manages to make her way down here, she'll find one (1) tired pompom, curled up against the wall, but near the bars. He's had a surprising number of visitors, considering he didn't think he'd be permitted to see anyone else once he'd been taken away, but maybe that's not too surprising. You know, considering the circumstances.

He still looks surprised to see her, but not unpleasantly so.]

Is it dark? Is it cold? Is it weirdly damp? IS IT ALL OF THE ABOVE we may never know but here he is anyway, curled up against the wall with his hands tucked into his haori sleeves. He doesn't look any worse for wear, just a little tired, especially with his hair out of its usual tie.

He isn't so exhausted that he ignores the sound of footsteps, though, lifting his head and glancing over curiously.]

[This time, he seeks her out on purpose.

His deepest desires haven't changed--all he really wants, at the end of the day, is to protect Okita by any means necessary. But she's already shown she's unwilling to reveal too many details about this situation, at least for now, and contrary to popular belief, Yasusada does know when pushing too much will only backfire.

So while he does have questions he's hoping she'll be able to answer, at first, he mostly focuses on trying to find her door once again. He's got a cup of tea in hand and everything--he'd been very careful in making it, so while it may not be the most delicious thing in the world, it's at least not, y'know. Poison. Or the flavor equivalent.]

As far as Yasusada is aware, they'd both voted for Akechi, after all--and the fact that their vote had "lost" has stirred up uncomfortable feelings that, as a sword, he hasn't the slightest idea how to begin processing.

He doesn't mean to seek out Dazai, exactly, but he doesn't look surprised to come across him--just tired, mostly.]

[They haven't had many chances to speak, but after everything that happened last week, Yasusada makes it a point to seek out 2B whenever they both have a moment.

He's got one hand resting on his sword when he greets her, like always, but it's a casual thing, like someone else might stick their hands in their pockets. He offers her a smile as he approaches, subdued but still friendly.]

[Yasusada spent most of his free time last week trailing after Okita Souji, like a mildly confused puppy dog. But the rest of the time, he's been happy enough to spend in his own dormitory, and though they haven't spoken much, he likes Kyouka perfectly well. Given that she's also earned Souji's approval, it's probably no surprise that he seeks her out as soon as he sees her tapestry, concern written all over his face.]

And you know, Yasusada may be an airhead who's way too obsessed with Souji, but he isn't a total moron. It didn't escape his notice that of last week's tapestries, one was a killer and one was a victim--a victim whose tapestry bled ink, just like the three this week.

So maybe he's jumping to conclusions, but Yasusada is a reactionary person, and he likes Nico a lot. So as soon as they're both free, he seeks him out, eyebrows drawn together in concern.]

[TIME FOR PARTNER HUGS.

Or, well. Whatever Rapunzel needs, at the moment. This whole thing has left Yasusada in an incredibly strange state--he's certainly no stranger to death and murder, and he doesn't doubt Sharpay believes in her own reasoning, whether it makes sense to anyone else or not. In other circumstances, maybe he'd even respect her for it.

...But he also knows what Jae-ha's going through. He's lost his partner, his master, almost everyone--and at the time, he'd been utterly helpless. And while he's most certainly a weapon, he also takes a great deal of pride in being a sword. Something used to kill with honor and respect, as far as he's concerned. The way Gi-gan's body was treated... he's not happy about it.

But right now, he's more concerned with taking care of his partner. It's obvious Rapunzel isn't used to any of this, and after she'd been so vehement about protection... it's got to be disheartening.

He seeks her out as soon as they're back in their dormitory, though he's openly cautious about it.]

Week 0, post-investigation

[So, Yasusada is a sword.

And honestly, it isn't the murders or deaths that bother him. He is (perhaps contrary to popular belief) smart enough not to say as much out loud, because... well, most of the others are human. More-or-less.

So the blood, the necessity of killing, all of that is easy enough for him to accept. But seeing Jae-ha's breakdown in the aftermath had summoned up the most painful of his memories--and that, he hadn't prepared for.

Yasusada lost his master, in the past. He lost his partner. He'd lost just about everyone dear to him, intangible and invisible and utterly helpless.

Now, he is tangible. He is visible. And he is willing to do anything, if it means he won't be helpless this time around.

We still know nothing about those two, Okita had said, just a little earlier--and, well. It wasn't an order, but Yasusada wants so, so badly to be a good sword, now that he can actually speak to his master. So if they know nothing about "those two", then it stands to reason Okita would want to find out more. So here Yasusada is, searching for... something. Anything. Anything at all.

And then the door appears.

He very nearly walks past it, so caught up in his own head as he is right now, but thankfully even he isn't quite that oblivious. He is, however, lacking in self-preservation enough to open the magical door and poke his head inside, because it's not like this place is dangerous or anything.]

Week 0, post-investigation

[To the surprise of no one, Yasusada's been sticking as close to Okita's side as possible. But that doesn't mean he's totally oblivious to the world around him--and even if Kyouka and Dazai weren't his dormmates, it would've been very hard to miss Jae-ha's outburst.

And let's face it: Yasusada is not the best person for this.

But.

He knows what it's like, to lose your master, partner, captain, commander--all of it. He knows what it's like, to be so close to someone you love, yet unable to touch them, heal them, save them--anything. And that's not a type of suffering he wants anyone to go through alone.

So while they've only had a couple of lighthearted conversations, Yasusada doesn't hesitate to seek out Jae-ha later in the day, when most everyone has likely dispersed. Whenever and wherever he might be, Yasusada does not bother with questions like "are you okay?" or empty reassurances like "it'll be alright."

Instead, he says softly:] You were very close, weren't you.

[Sometime after Yasusada finds Souji, presumably, because until then he'll probably be running around the castle yelling OKITA-KUUUUUUUUUUUUN

But "Okita Souji" isn't the only name he'd recognized, and just as he'd been ashamed of himself for somehow failing to recognize his master's face, he's upset with himself for being oblivious to Hijikata's identity, too. He should've known, really--even without his swords, Hijikata's got That kind of presence, and he'd been the only one to recognize the Shinsengumi haori...

Either way, at some point Yasusada will seek him out, whether he's in his room or somewhere else fairly private.]
